Mini Greek School of Greek Language, History and Culture is designed for students who want to make rapid progress in their Greek language and deepen their knowledge about Greece and its culture. It offers an intensive language course and includes grammar, reading, speaking and writing and provides also an insight into Ancient Greek History and civilization.

The program is implemented at the hotel premises and the students have a lot of free time to enjoy the sun, the sea and Greek life. Also, students will have the opportunity to visit  archaeological sites and museums.

Our teachers are all native Greek speakers who have graduated in philology, are qualified and have experience of teaching Greek as a foreign language or a second language. They are available after lesson to chat with their students about topics of interest, and to help them discover the beauty and charm of the places they are visiting.

At the end of the day, the students will have enjoyed the famous Greek gastronomy and experienced the Greek music, traditional dances and the unique nightlife.

After the completion of the program, the students will be able to understand and use every day Greek expressions. They will also be able to ask and answer questions.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive to Athens

Arrival to Athens airport (Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport). Our driver will be waiting for the students at the airport to take them to the hotel in Athens for the check in. In the evening there will be a meeting with the Education Coordinator and a tour around the hotel and the classrooms. Students will receive the educational material and the detailed agenda, and they will meet the teachers and gain detailed information about the educational terms. Free time and dinner.

Day 2Athens

Lesson 1: Online e-learning platform. Demonstration of the electronic platform which can be used by students during the program but also after its completion. The platform is user-friendly and contains all the courses attended, educational material, video and social media in order to have a continuous communication.

The best souvlaki in town (along with the famous Greek salad, of course) will be served in a traditional restaurant in Monastiraki Area. After the meal students will enjoy a wine tasting experience at a cozy wine bar in Psirri area.

19.00 – 22.00 Food Tour – Students will enjoy a food tour accompanied by a guide, in non-tourist areas of Athens and will get to experience the Greek Gastronomy. The food tour includes tasting of a wide variety of Greek delicacies such as Feta cheese, the famous Greek Kalamon olives and the traditional “keftedakia” (spicy Greek meatballs) and sweet and syrupy “loukoumades”!

19.00 – 22.00 Private Greek folk dance lesson and dinner. The students will enjoy an unforgettable evening full of Greek music, dance and real fun. A professional dance teacher will take them in a journey to meet the culture and history behind the Greek folk dances like “kalamatianos”, “syrtos” and of course the very famous “syrtaki”. Then, they will have the chance to experience an original Greek feast, the “glenti”: delicious dinner, wine, Greek music and dances. Taste Greece like a local!

Day 6Athens - Mycenae - Epidaurus - Nafplio - Athens

07.00 – 08.00 : Greek Traditional Breakfast

08.00 – 19.00 :
Argolis day – trip: Students will visit some of the most important archaeological sites of Greece. Early morning departure from Athens. In about one hour and twenty minutes they will reach the Corinth Canal where they will make a short stop to admire the Canal which connects two Greek Seas -The Aegean and the Ionian Sea. In about one hour the group arrives to the ancient city of Mycenae. They will visit the Treasury of Atreus (Tomb of Agamemnon), the Mycenaean Citadel with the Cyclopean Walls and the Lionesses Gate.
After lunch, students will make a short stop at the city of Nafplio. In about 40 minutes they will reach Epidaurus; This city is the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios, the healer, and was the most famous healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most known for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and is still used today due to its amazing acoustics.
The group arrives to Athens in the afternoon.

Day 7Athens - Sounio - Athens

Sounio half day – trip: Students will enjoy an unforgettable trip to cape Sounio! It is going to be a memorable experience. They will feel unique vibes in the Temple of God Poseidon, while enjoying the magnificent sunset and panoramic sea views. Discover true Greece! Lunch will be served in Sounio.

It will be a relaxing walking tour with an exceptional guide, which will reveal them Athens through its contradictions! After wandering around the island-like neighborhood of Anafiotika, they will enjoy a traditional dinner.

Day 10Athens - Delphi - Athens

Delphi day – trip: Departure for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, and arrival in Delphi. Our professional licensed tour guide will offer a guided tour at the archaeological site and the museum of Delphi. They will learn about the history of one of the most significant archaeological sites which ancient Greeks considered to be the navel of the earth. They will see monuments such as the Athenian Treasury, the Theatre, the Navel of the Earth, the Sacred Way, the Apollo Temple and many more.
In the Museum of Delphi they will admire unique treasures such as the world famous bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx and the Statue of Antinoos and many other masterpieces of classical Greek art.

19.00 – 22.00 : Return to the hotel – Free time for dinner or relaxation and leisure or study

Day 11Athens

Ancient Agora & Hills of Athens Tour. The students will discover all the secrets of a very special archaeological site, the Ancient Agora. Also, they will explore the most famous Athenian Hills (Mars Hill and Pnyx Hill) where the great orators of the past were gathered to discuss about public issues. Discover the place where Democracy was born!

Day 12Athens - Ancient Olympia - Athens

08.00 – 19.00 :
Ancient Olympia day – trip: On our trip to Ancient Olympia ( the birthplace of Olympic Games) students will visit the Temple of Zeus, which once housed the gold and ivory statue of Zeus. Before it was destroyed by fire, the statue was listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The students will also see the original stadium and bouleuterion, which housed the council of citizens. The museum is near the archaeological site. It is home to many priceless exhibits, including marble statues from the Temple of Zeus and a unique statue of Hermes, carved by the ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles. After visiting the site and the museum, students will make a short stop in the village of Olympia, where they will have free time.

Athens by night walking tour: The evening begins with a pleasant panoramic drive through the beautiful city center, near Acropolis, a stunning sight, and with a walk through the narrow pedestrian street of Plaka. Students will explore the old city of Athens on the way to a local taverna. A folklore show will follow, with live music and dancers in traditional costumes. The students will taste the flavors of Greece at this restaurant. This evening is a perfect way to eat and drink like Greeks do.

Day 14Athens

After dinner, a farewell celebration will take place, which will include the program evaluation, the awarding of training certificate, souvenirs and a farewell feast with Greek music, Sirtaki and bouzouki.

Day 15Athens - Departure

After breakfast students will be transferred to the airport for the return flight.
The participants will have experienced the Greek Language, Ancient History and Culture and received a lot of knowledge. They are given the opportunity to continue on line studying through the e-learning platform. Also, they will have enjoyed Greek gastronomy and they will have gained extraordinary experiences of Greek music and dances.
It is almost certain they will soon return to another Mini Greek School……..
